Found a news release I want to share with you, last fall at the end of the summer irrigation drawdown, there were some boat ramp improvements done at Davis Creek Reservoir:
LLNRD announces better access at Davis Creek
New outdoor opportunities are coming to Davis Creek Recreation Area, located south of North Loup inValley County, thanks to an on-going partnership between theLower Loup Natural Resources District and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
Lower Loup NRD has obtained funding through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions Sport Fish Restoration Program to add an additional boat launch at Davis Creek.
The existing dock had developed issues with crowding following the expansion of camp sites completed last year. The new boat launch facility has been completed, featuring newramp, improving accessibility nearer to the rec areas main entrance. The original boat ramp will remain in service as well.
The new ramp is ADA compliant with handicapped parking and sidewalk access. It has movable, floating dock that can be adjusted to the ever-changing water levels at Davis Creek Reservoir. The facility also has vault latrine, fresh water hydrants and security lighting. The parking area is boat trailer friendly and can be accessed just east of the primary picnic shelter.
In addition to the boat launch facility, the Sport Fish Restoration Program has helped the LL NRD finance and construct a new fish cleaning station. This new station is located just south of the new boat launch access road. The station has parking area with an ADA pad and sidewalk access, safety lighting, new Barracuda type grinder with flushing system, and automatic grinder shutoff.
The Sport Fish Restoration Program is federal program funded through an excise tax on the purchase of recreational fishing licenses, fishing supplies, and other relevant equipment. The tax revenues collected in the Sport Fish Restoration Act are distributed to each of the states for use in recreation expansion and restoration programs.

Davis Creek experiences maximum drawdowns every summer regardless of how much rain we have had. You can always expect that reservoir to be low going into the fall. The new boat ramp should make launching easier even when water levels are low.
Davis Creek Reservoir has been filling since late April, and in spite of the maximum drawdowns every summer it fills every spring. The water level is currently about eleven feet from full pool. You can check water levels at Davis Creek anytime, here, Current Reservoir Data for Davis Creek Reservoir.
In spite of the water level fluctuations, Davis Creek offers some good fishing opportunities and in particular rated very high for crappies in the 2018 Fishing Forecast. Anglers will find some good fishing for walleyes, white bass, wipers, and channel catfish as well, Davis Creek Fisheries Sampling Summary.
If you have not been there, it is not far from either Sherman or Calamus Reservoirs; in fact it receives water from Calamus. Stop by, check out the new facilities and wet a line!
