When targeting fish over structure, whether it’s a rip, a wreck, or a shoreline, the first step is determining which way your boat is going to drift.

The most efficient way to determine your drift direction is to motor alongside the structure, take the engines out of gear, and put the trackline on. This will provide a visual representation of your drift that you can use to best position your boat to get over the fish.
