Sitka Films gives us a look at what it’s like to have a dog that’s far more than a pet.

Barton Ramsey is a dog breeder who trains 365 days a year. He wakes up and checks the weather rather than social media and takes off with his dogs on a journey each day to enhance their skillset. While doing so, the dogs are enhancing his life, and illustrating the mutual relationship between man and man’s best friend beyond words.

It’s not an easy job. And, for anyone who’s a dog trainer, the one thing you require more than patience is time. Ramsey essentially dedicates his life to training dogs to better their lives. While out hunting or training, the dog is ultimately having the time of its life. Anyone who has a dog as a pet is know how excited they get when you walk through the door. Dogs trained to hunt take it to a whole new level.

Sitka Films has provided us with a dog’s perspective through Ramsey’s words.

He says some of his favorite hunts were just him, a dog and no one else. The lasting relationship that formed is heartwarming to say the least.

“Say when” is truthfully that is what his dogs are thinking and you can see it in their eyes. They’re waiting for their command to work. As they sit motionless while a parade of waterfowl falls from the sky, the dog awaits his permission to work. There’s nothing like watching a good gun dog work, and that’s just what Ramsey molds.
