Helicopter Hog Hunting

Watch Rob make a dent in the Texas hog population from a helicopter!

Perhaps no other state in the U.S. has a worse exotic animal problem more than Texas. Feral hogs are such a problem in the Lone Star State that there are no set seasons, no limits on what weapons you can use and no bag limits.

The hogs are such a problem, hunters there are able to utilize some pretty extreme methods of hunting.

One of those methods is shooting them from a helicopter. In this video, watch as YouTube fishing personality Rob, aka LunkersTV, does his part to put a dent in the wild pig population from the sky. If you’ve never seen hog hunting from a helicopter, it’s pretty wild.

In case you ever doubted what a good shot Rob is, this video should tell you all you need to know. We lost count of the number of hogs he dropped about halfway through.

The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife estimates there are approximately 1.5 million feral hogs in the state. It’s one thing to hear those numbers. But you really get an idea of how bad the problem actually is when you see a video like this.

These animals can reproduce four or five times a year, which means populations are always growing. Considering this and the ridiculous amount of crop damage feral hogs can do, it’s little wonder the state’s policy is pretty much “anything goes” when it comes to keeping the population in check.
