An Arkansas women was hunting in Missouri when a decent eight-point buck walked right up for a feature film, so she let it keep walking.
We all do it: strive to take into account the amazing sense of smell, eyesight, and pure wild animal instinct that a whitetail deer has, and then this happens. One of the best parts of deer hunting is the fact that we can never be sure what will happen when we walk out of the house and enter the haunts of the venerable whitetail knowing full well that they have every advantage to escape.
And then they walk right up to you.
Well, when Arkansas resident Madison Daves went to Missouri to hunt the families lease land, she couldn’t have expected to have this kind of experience! As she was walking back from her stand, and across a cut corn field, she thought that she had a shooter buck walking her way.
It just so happened that this nice eight-point wouldn’t make her have to chase it, but walk right up and… sniff her good!
Madison said, “I went out this morning just hoping to get a chance to shoot that buck of a lifetime before heading back home. What I got was so much more. I had hunted and saw some nice deer but decided it was time to head back to the truck.
Just as I got out of my blind and started walking I looked across the field and saw what I thought at the time was a shooter. So, I did the only thing I could at that point…squat down in the middle of a fresh cut corn field and wait.”
In a stunning turn of events–with a darn nice eight-point in her face–the 21-year-old women let it walk! Talk about a veteran move. Let’s hope that the next footage she gets is of a beautiful 10-point laying at her feet and ready for a wall-mount.
Congratulations to Madison and big thanks for the share!
