If women’s hunting gear as a whole is lagging behind men’s, then women’s upland gear isn’t even in the same zip code as the options for the other sex. There aren’t a ton of options for ladies who love bird hunting to choose from, but these pieces are some of the best for women upland hunters.

Prois Pradlann Line
Made exclusively for women by women, the Pradlann line from Prois offers all the upland hunting staples women need, including blaze hats and a pullover as well as a waterproof, ripstop upland vest. In my view, the most buzzed-about piece from the line is the Pradlann Field Pant. Featuring abrasion-resistant fabric and articulated knees for ease of motion, these double-layer pants provide extra protection in brush and briars without limiting mobility. A C6 DWR water-repellent treatment keeps legs dry, and zippered leg vents add breathable ventilation. The hidden elastic waistband sports velcro fasteners for easy adjustments of these athletic-cut pants. I know a lot of ladies who love these pants and put them at the top upland gear list. Prois and reviewers have noted the pants run large and recommend sizing down. The Pradlann Field Pant rings in at $169.99, with other pieces in the line running from $24.99 (hats) to $189.99 (upland vest).
DSG Upland Hunting Vest
Another women-specific brand outfitting upland hunters is DSG. I own the original Upland Hunting Vest from DSG, which held up well in tough terrain but runs a bit large. And the orange portion of the vest doesn’t quite appear to fit the “blaze” criteria. But the Upland Hunting Vest 2.0 seems to hit the mark with a bolder color and more streamlined fit. It features padded, quilted shoulder panels for added comfort when shouldering a shotgun as well as shell holders in the front pocket for easy ammo access. The blood-proof game bag on the back of the vest is expandable for extra storage with a simple snap. The Upland Hunting Vest 2.0 is available for just $49.99.
I also wore the DSG Field Pants while upland hunting a couple times this year. They’re comfortable and well-made, but they’re not true brush pants so I’d recommend only wearing these ripstop pants in areas free of briars. They ring in at $69.99
Orvis Women’s Softshell Hunting Jacket
In addition to a technical upland vest, lightweight brush pants, and an odor-resistant long sleeve, Orvis boasts one of the best-reviewed women’s upland jackets. The Women’s Softshell Hunting Jacket is a versatile piece that can protect from wind and rain when worn over other layers in cooler temps, or provide ventilation via side zips in warmer weather. The exterior is both brush- and abrasion-resistant, while a soft brushed tricot liner is comfortably cozy. The athletic-cut jacket features low-profile pockets on either side for $198.
L.L. Bean Women’s Stretch Briar Jeans
Featuring an innovative fabric blend that’s four times tougher than regular denim, Women’s Stretch Briar Jeans from L.L. Bean provide full protection in the field without sacrificing comfortable stretch. Water-resistant overlays and reinforced cuffs add a waterproof layer that blocks briars, thorns, and brush. Articulated knees and built-in stretch allow for full range of movement. The machine-washable Women’s Stretch Briar Jeans come in sizes 4-20 for $99.
Beretta Women’s TM Field Shirt
Certainly not a new name to shotgun hunters, Beretta offers several women’s apparel pieces, including the TM Field Shirt. The ambidextrous design features quilted shoulders, a vented back, and convenient chest pocket. The heavyweight, durable brushed cotton twill sports a relaxed fit for maneuverability. The Women’s TM Field Shirt sells for $89.
Magellan Outdoors Women’s Reload 3.0 Hiking Shoes
For budget-friendly boots that will keep your feet comfy and protected in bird country, check out the Reload 3.0 from Magellan Outdoors. The waterproof construction with 200-gram insulation provides just enough dry warmth for damp, chilly mornings. EVA midsoles, leather uppers, and lace-up closures ensure a comfortable, supportive fit, while the slip-resistant outsoles with reliable traction prevent falls and unsure footing on wet ground. Magellan Outdoors Women’s Reload 3.0 Hiking Shoes are available at just $79.99.
Kevin’s Huntress Stretch Briar Pant
Available in a variety of colorways including camo and chocolate or solid olive, the Huntress Stretch Briar Pant from Kevin’s Catalog receives high marks for style and performance. The mid-rise pants sport a tapered cut constructed of lightweight stretch cotton poplin with a durable double-faced front panel. The Huntress Stretch Briar Pant are available at $149.
McKenna Quinn Upland Pants
These fashion-forward upland pants from McKenna Quinn feature stylish yet functional thigh and calf wax cotton panels that protect from brush and repel water. The straight-leg design offers five pockets and additional knee seams for freedom of movement in the field. Available in half a dozen color options, these pants ring in at $298.
Upland Bespoke Classic Collection Vests
Female upland hunters who like the high-end look of more European-style gear will love the vests from Upland Bespoke. Available in stunning prints or chic solids, these high-quality vests feature quilted trim, button-down front and side pockets, and convenient interior storage. Flattering pleats on the back add a feminine touch, and each vest comes with two tab options — one of which is elasticized for cinching in the waist by 2 inches. And optional monogramming allows for customization. You’ll pay for the beautiful tailoring, though, at $320.
