Lone Star Beer and Duck Camp are launching a new campaign just in time for hunting season. The brand’s limited edition theme is “Lone Star Beer in Duck Camp Camo-So Doves Don’t Try To Drink Your Beer While You Hunt Them.”
The nostalgic ’80s-themed line will include Duck Camp camo packaging and a unique merchandise collection. Two of Duck Camp’s retail stores will also hold tailgating events to help ring in the new hunting season.
The collaboration’s social-facing campaign follows a dove hunter, Braxton, and his friends running through the brush toting their Duck Camp camo-covered Lone Star beer, a nod to post-hunt hangouts.
“As two brands rooted in camaraderie, we really wanted to lean into the nostalgia that the return of the season brings – memories of post-hunt hangs with friends and family,” said Duck Camp Vice President of Marketing Grant Watson. “That’s what it’s all about, and Lone Star has been the perfect partner to help bring the idea to life.”
The co-branded merchandise features a variety of ’80s Texas outdoor-themed products, including hats, t-shirts, and beer koozies. The product line is available starting September 1 on LoneStarBeer.com and DuckCamp.com. It will also be available at the September 3 “Popperville” tailgating events at the Austin and Houston Duck Camp retail stores. In addition, the limited-edition beer is available wherever Lone Star is sold.
The events will offer attendees beer, food, and college football viewing. The Austin event will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1301 E. Cesar Chavez, with BBQ supplied by Robert Alvarado. It will also have music from Jonathon Terrell with Raccoon Brothers and The Shinglers.
In Houston, “Popperville” will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 5510 Morningside Dr. Suite 170. Patrick Feges will provide bites and tapas, while entertainment will be Chris Seymore and Friends.
“Being the National Beer of Texas, we love working with brands that fit our consumer’s lifestyle, that are rooted locally, and share our love for the land of Texas,” said Lone Star Beer Brand Director Daniel Crawford. “After an exciting year of using their Midland Camo on our packaging during hunting season, we wanted to go bigger this year with a campaign rooted in the lore of 80’s Texas Outdoors, taking inspiration from George Strait hunting pictures, Bill Dance, and classic advertising, I think we have struck a unique chord this season, and hope we produced enough of our collaborative merch.”
