Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Monsoon Rain Approaching” by Bernhard Michaelis. Location: North of Flagstaff, Arizona.
“Living off grid in northern Arizona in the lava fields around the San Francisco Peaks gives me the opportunity to explore my immediate neighborhood at any time,” says Michaelis. “I love to take dramatic photos filled with energy, power and mystery. Monsoon season lends itself to such images. It’s also the time for a second spring in the cinder fields and desert around the mountains. On this afternoon, it all came together: the raw power of an approaching storm, finding its equal in power and energy in an area where huge molten lava rocks had been spewed out almost 1,000 years ago, an area dotted with flowering snakeweed that’s located between cinder hills and craters.”
