Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Upon Pride Rock” by Elie Wolf. Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
“There’s really no way for me to adequately articulate the feeling that swelled up in me when I saw lions atop these rocky outcrops, known as ‘kopjes’ (pronounced in East Africa as COPE-EE),” explains Wolf. “My guide, though, also called these ‘Pride Rock,’ and for good reason. Panthera leo sits atop them and often gives birth near them. Sometimes we’d sit nearby and see multiple cubs wander out from among the rocks.”
