Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Maned Forest Lizard in Bali” by Thomas Oliver. Location: Ubud, Bali.
“When preparing for a trip to Bali, I discovered ‘Bali Bird Walks’—a 3.5 hour guided morning walk through rural Bali looking for and learning about birds, butterflies and other animals and plants,” explains Oliver. “The guide is a local naturalist with vast experiences. The fee for the day is her salary—with a small portion promised to be used toward local conservation issues. During this tour, the birds were often at binocular distance, so photos were a challenge. However, this maned forest lizard (Bronchocela jubata) was located along the trail and it stuck around long enough for me to rattle off a few pictures before it scurried away.”
