Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Northward Migration” by Douglas Croft. Location: California.
“A gray whale leads her calf through the kelp forest during their migration north from the warm lagoons of Baja to feeding grounds in Alaska,” explains Croft. “During April and May, we see a steady flow of cow/calf pairs moving north past Big Sur. They swim very close to the base of the cliffs to avoid predation by killer whales. Big Sur’s cliffs give us a bird’s-eye view of this most incredible migration.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Galleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
