Amateur photographers in the Washington D.C. area who are looking to garner more skills have an exciting way to do so while helping support victims of Hurricane Harvey. On September 16, 2017, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Washington Photo Safari will be hosting an event called Photographers Care. A team of volunteer professional photographer instructors will teach participants the techniques of camera use and travel photography on a two-hour photo safari.
Washington Photo Safari is “one of the oldest and largest community-based photography training programs in the country that has trained over 35,000 amateur photographers on 5,200 local photo excursions and field trips since 1999,” says its founder and director, E. David Luria. “Over the last eight years, we have raised more than $25,000 through special benefit safaris like this one to assist victims of natural disasters in Japan, Nepal, Haiti, New Orleans, and New Jersey.”
The event will be held in Lafayette Park, adjacent to the White House. All proceeds will go to hurricane relief efforts of the American Red Cross. Even if you can’t attend, donations are welcomed.
