Congratulations to Sangeeta Dey for winning the recent Textures assignment with the image, “Hope.”
“While I love to shoot alpine landscapes, I fell in love with the desert when I visited Death Valley National Park for the first time a few years ago,” explains Dey. “This place is like a huge jigsaw puzzle offering miles and miles of opportunities for creative self-expression. I shot this scene during the time of a super bloom. At the time, millions of flowers were blooming in the desert. However, I was fascinated by this little scene. It told a story of hope, strength and resilience, and was inspired by the Leonard Cohen song lyric, ‘There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.’”
