Avid coastal anglers looking for a serious bay boat in a manageable size should check out Triton’s new 220 LTS. This latest addition to Triton’s popular Light Tackle Series sets new standards in fishability and total performance. According to Triton president Earl Bentz, the new 220 LTS is the offspring of the company’s popular 260 LTS and 240 LTS bay boats, both of which were introduced within the last 18 months. “We completely redesigned and retooled these 26- and 24-foot bay models from the ground up, giving them a high-performance pad bottom for a rapid plane-off, awesome top-end speed, greater fuel economy and an incredibly smooth, dry ride in heavy seas,” Bentz explained. “The response from coastal anglers who target redfish, tuna, snook, tarpon, stripers and trout was absolutely unprecedented, so our dealers requested that we add a more compact LTS model to this series. Our new 22 LTS has all the fishability and performance of its larger cousins in a package that’s easy to tow, easy to store and easy to own.”
Triton’s new 220 LTS is 22 feet long with a super-wide 8 foot 6 inch beam for incredible stability and ample interior room. It rates for outboards to 300 hp and has a fuel capacity of 73 gallons. With a draft of just over one foot, this versatile fishing machine is totally capable of sneaking into shallow rivers and skinny tidal backwaters where trophy gamefish lurk. Yet when tuna or stripers are schooling offshore, that pad-bottom hull will shoot you to the action at breakneck speed, yet without the punishing pounding and soaking you and your crew would typically be subjected to in a lesser bay boat.
The 220 LTS comes packed with desirable coastal fishing features, including a front casting deck big enough to accommodate two anglers, handy bow panel featuring engine trim switch and 6-gauge trolling motor wiring, a massive 64-gallon fish box that can double as a dry storage compartment, and two high-capacity rod storage lockers. Port and starboard flip-up seats at the stern make for more comfortable trolling, while a huge aerated livewell and a 12-gallon baitwell keep your catch fresh and your bait fish frisky. Deck lids are crafted from sturdy non-warping fiberglass and have a molded nonskid surface.
The sleek fiberglass console of the 220 LTS is a study in efficiency. Besides full instrumentation, the roomy dash panel provides room for flush-mounting large marine electronics units. The console features an integrated recessed footrest, battery compartment, Plexiglas® windshield, battery switch, 12-volt accessory plug, and premium Edson stainless steel steering wheel and cup holder. Military-grade waterproof switches with waterproof LED indicator lights come standard, and all wiring is protected by circuit breakers rather than fuses. A fiberglass leaning post features custom flip-up bolster seating while a padded backrest sports a stainless steel grab rail and five rod holders. Beneath the leaning post you’ll find a 65-quart Yeti® cooler on a handy slide mount.
The new 220 LTS, like all Triton bay boats, feature’s state-of-the-art wood-free composite construction and a fully foamed stringer grid system for the ultimate in structural integrity. All seats, cleats and rod holders are secured with glassed-in aluminum backing plates for maximum durability. A custom swim platform with three step ladder, comes standard, and the boat carries a limited lifetime hull warranty*.
The 220 LTS is available exclusively at authorized Triton dealers. For additional information, or to request a catalog, log onto the company’s Website (www.tritonboats.com) or call 1-888-8TRITON.
