With the debut of the CH1 GTX, Cam Hanes blazes a new trail in performance hunting gear.
Cameron Hanes is the first professional hunter to have their own signature series Under Armour footwear, and the CH1 GTX is serving as yet another reminder that outdoor athletic innovations apparently have no bounds.
Debuted with a launch event at the 2019 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the new boots feature an alternative lacing system known as “BOA” that are tightened with a twist of the circular knob. The BOA system is located on the top and across the front, tightening the boots in the two most likely places boots need support. It’s the first double BOA on a style of Under Armour footwear.
They are said to have the function of a tactical boot but the performance and camo appearance a hunting boot requires. Made with backcountry hunters in mind, they’re among the most advanced gear Under Armour has created.
The boots themselves were a sight to see, as we took them in at the Under Armour booth during their SHOT Show reveal. Featured in the center and covered with a plexiglass case, the boots seemed to attract the attention of each passerby during the length of the show.
The windproof and waterproof GORE-TEX construction includes a cast PU Exo-Skeleton that’s attached over breathable mesh, giving the boot flexibility and durability while maintaining overall strength and support. The CH1 GTX has a Vibram Megagrip sole with multi directional lugs and an off camber bite and rigidity.
“As we went through each prototype, our mantra was always: Everything for a purpose,” said Sean Denniston, UA Design Team Lead. Both Hanes and Denniston live in Oregon, and frequent collaborations developed into an idea that eventually saw fruition. The two agreed that the boots needed three requirements: a precision fit, rugged foot protection, and a heavy athletic slant.
The boots feature the Cam Hanes “CH” arrow logo on the outside, and his signature line “Keep Hammerin'” on the inside.
The CH1 will be available to buy in mid-summer 2019 on UA.com and at select retailers for $299.99.
Here’s a clip from the launch event shared from Hanes’ Facebook page (the full SHOT Show 22-minute launch event can be seen on Under Armour Hunt’s YouTube channel).

The CH1 GTX boots follow releases of Under Armour hunting boots like the Brow Tine and Speed Freak Bozeman, each a high-traction piece of equipment in their own right.
Now that Hanes has his own signature series boot, early feedback and reactions say there’s little doubt the CH1 GTX will become one of the brand’s best sellers, and be viewed as one of the greatest UA innovations in the outdoor space.
