Everyone has a preference, but what’s the best coyote gun of them all?
Most people who hunt coyotes have an old standby gun they always take with them that gets the job done. However, no two people are the same when it comes to selecting the gun.
A lot of it depends on whether you’re eradicating a nuisance species or collecting the pelts. The caliber you choose in this regard can make or break the trip. Thankfully, the good folks at Hidden Instinct are putting this debate to bed.
Well, if you just want to shoot coyotes, the best gun for coyotes is the gun you have! However, if you care for the fur, the speed is what is needed to penetrate the hide and keep everything in tact. With that in mind, it seems the slower round holds together better and doesn’t break apart when it hits the coyote, therefore ruining the pelt.
Regardless, though, it’s all a preference. Personally, I like a 223.
